About CHAPS Equine Assisted Therapy

CHAPS is a safe, therapeutic environment for healing, learning and growth.  Our horses offer a chance to be seen & heard by a non-judgmental, sentient being capable of soaking up negative emotions and neutralizing them to bring peace and comfort. From autism to PTSD and many diagnoses in between, CHAPS clients benefit from the horse physically, mentally and psychologically.  Click here to contribute now!

The CHAPS' mission is to provide high quality equine therapies for youth, adults and veterans with physical, mental, social and/or psychological disabilities.

"The CHAPS program, in my opinion, has absolutely been the most rewarding portion of my seven-week PTSD therapy program session provided by the Sheridan VAMC." P. Flagg, Navy Veteran

"I volunteer with CHAPS because I enjoy working with, learning about and being around horses.  I chose CHAPS because they are really involved in our community in Sheridan, WY."  C. Christiansen, Volunteer

"My daughter has CP.  She has a weak left side and can exhibit negative behaviors.  Riding the horses has helped develop her muscles on both sides of her body, especially the left.  The horse and instructor are both good about teaching her socially appropriate behaviors." K. Marcus, Parent
